Seams to me

April 2008

Nick and BrodieMarch 15th was National Quilting Day and that weekend we travelled to Sudbury to visit our friends Janet and Sid Bredin and their two furry Goldens Sasha and Lily. This was a four hour drive north which not only is a good hike but in Ontario if you are a non-quilter, heading straight north mid-March seems like a crazy thing to do.

Sherri and JanetJanet Rice-Bredin is a wonderful friend and fellow pattern designer. She is the master mind behind the beautiful Botanical Art Quilts patterns and writes a very interesting blog. Janet and I got caught up on our quilt talk and had our own show and tell. I am quite honoured that Janet is making one of my patterns in her spare time. She is working on the “Oh, My Tangled Stars” quilt for her Bed Club Class that she teaches. We whiled the hours with quilts and the guys were off doing their thing (ice fishing) and Brodie just wanted to play with Sasha and Lily, who mostly did not care what he wanted. They are much too dignified for his puppyness. We had a fabulous weekend. I am looking forward to Spring Quilt Market when we will be travelling together to Portland, Oregon.

Star IslandSpring Quilt Market takes place in May which is a wholesale show for the quilt industry. So things are hectic here and I am mostly wishing that I had four arms and did not have to sleep. Border Creek will be in Booth #1122 so if you are going, please stop by to say hello and see what’s new including out two new Straight from my Heartpatterns, Straight From My Heart and Star Island which are now available. These new patterns both have a little appliqué and my quilting buddies love them so I hope you will too. Star Island is available in kit form from your quilt shop with brand new fabrics from Moda – Garden Inspirations from Kansas Troubles and Heming House from Brannock & Patek. Both fabric lines were so beautiful I could not choose so I used both!

The final installments for the BCS Mystery Quilt Club have been received by our hosting quilt shops. It is hard to believe that May and the final installment are just around the corner. Your quilt shop will be organizing their Mystery Club Reveal Party so make sure you mark the date on the calendar so you can attend. Please note that if you are a Club member there is a diagram correction on Installment 6 page 4. Please the Mystery Quilt page for the update.

I love to hear from you, and receiving feedback when you make BCS designs!

Happy Quilting! I am off to sew some more.
